JETTA VS. SENTRA
Nissans, as a general rule, tend to be a little more expensive than most imports. And when you compare the comparable trim levels between Jettas and Sentras, that rule holds true. In looking at a 2018 Jetta SE vs. a 2018 Sentra SL, the list of standard equipment is pretty similar. They both have upgraded upholstery, heated seats, keyless ignition and a sunroof.
Where Jetta shines, however, is power. The Jetta comes with a Turbo engine. That means the Jetta boasts 150hp @ 5000 rpm while the Sentra has a measly 124hp @ 6000 rpm. When it comes to torque, the Jetta has 184 ft-lbs @ 1400 rpm and the Sentra has 125 ft-lbs @ 3600 rpm. If you aren’t sure what torque is - the important takeaway from this is that the Jetta accelerates MUCH faster than the Sentra.
Let’s not forget about cargo space. It’s always nice to know that there’s plenty of room for suitcases, picnic baskets, sports equipment or crates of avocados, should you need them. The Jetta has more cargo space than the Sentra. We just thought you should know.
And, don’t forget, Volkswagen recently announced the People First Warranty - a 6-year, 72,000 mile BUMPER-TO-BUMPER warranty which is DOUBLE Nissan’s basic warranty. So maybe skip Nissan this time and check out our specials on the new Jetta!
The 2018 Jetta has received a 5-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration—the highest rating possible.
